Gazette name

The name that appears on the cover page of the Gazette.

Gazette number

This number usually appears on the cover page and the running header on each page of the Gazette.

Publication date

Date of publication of the Gazette. This date usually appears on the cover page and the running header on each page of the Gazette.

Title

The title of an Act must be taken from the Short Title section.

For subsidiary legislation, the title must also be taken from the short title section, but sometimes subsidiary legislation does not have a short title. In these cases, take the title from the “blurb” that appears at the top of the notice. Only use the heading of the notice as a last resort as these are usually added by the printers and are often not accurate.

Subtypes

For all Acts the subtype is “Act”. For subsidiary legislation the notice type will be given at the top of the notice, in the below example it is a Government Notice (GN).

Number

For Acts the Act number will appear on the cover page of the Gazette.

Or at the top of the Act.

For subsidiary legislation the notice number will be given at the top of the notice. If there is an “R” before the number as below, please include it (r32).
