Metadata

Metadata is found in the Official Gazettes for a country or region.

It is preferable to use Official Gazettes as the source for legislation, but if there is no access to the Gazettes, this is not possible. We may then use other sources, but they have to be official sources.

Official documents that are not Gazettes may come from:

  1. Attorney-General’s Office, a government department, Parliament, etc.

  2. Government printers' reprints, attachments/supplements to gazettes.

  3. The cover page/title/running header of a document will tell you what the source is. If there is no such information on a document, we shouldn’t use it.
